Is Fair Trade Fair to American Artists?

I recently wrote a feature story on fair trade and American artists for The Crafts Report, a monthly magazine geared toward North American (actually American and Canadian mostly) artists. The piece discusses whether artisans in developing countries producing handmade work that is fairly traded is affecting sales for North American artists. The results were optimistic and I was pleasantly surprised to hear that many North American artists embraced their neighbor's work for what it is - handmade art, regardless of origin.
I've added the article here for your reading pleasure. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed researching and writing the piece!
